USA Today Quotes Valenzuela on Hispanic Voters' Likelihood of Bloc Voting for Rubio

Ali Valenzuela, assistant professor of Politics and Latino Studies and CSDP faculty associate, was quoted in a USA Today article about the likelihood of Hispanic voters' bloc voting for Marco Rubio, even if he becomes his party's nominee:

“I just don’t see his ethnic background as a thing that (alone) manages to win Hispanic voters. Hispanic voters are smarter than that. They actually care about policy. As long as he’s not willing to move some distance towards the middle, he’s not going to get the Hispanic vote any more than another (GOP) candidate will.”
