Lowande in Washington Post on Political and Policy Impact of Trump's Tariffs

Jan. 30, 2018

Kenneth Lowande, 2017-2018 CSDP Fellow, and his co-authors (Jeffery Jenkins and Andrew Clarke) describe their research on the strategic use of protectionist tariffs in a Monkey Cage piece in the Washington Post: Will Trump’s tariffs help him with his voters?

"...Trump’s protectionist measures support the growing literature suggesting that presidents, like Congress, pick winners and losers within the U.S. strategically, rather than simply tending to the whole nation."

Kenneth Lowande is a fellow in the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton University. Starting Fall 2018, he will be an assistant professor of political science at the University of Michigan.
