Lee Perspective on Pelosi in AP Story

Frances Lee is quoted in the Associated Press (AP) story covering Nancy Pelosi's announcement that she is stepping down from congressional leadership. Pelosi, dominant figure for the ages, leaves lasting imprint is a retrospective on Pelosi's legislative leadership " through times of war, financial turmoil, a pandemic, and an assault on democracy."

 

Pelosi was a “truly great legislative leader, among a handful truly in command. She’s really had her party in the House of Representatives in hand. The difficulty of managing them should not be underrated. It didn’t always look pretty but she held the party together.”

 

Also quoted in the article is John Lawrence, Pelosi's longtime chief of staff and a recent visitor to the Center for the Study of Democratic Politics at Princeton.
