Drutman Reviews Democracy for Realists in Chronicle of Higher Ed

Nov. 7, 2016

Lee Drutman (New America) reviews Democracy for Realists by Christopher Achen and Larry Bartels in the Chronicle of Higher Education (Ballot Pox: It's time to stop pretending that there's such a thing as a rational voter), describing the book as an "impressively comprehensive statement on the limits of electoral democracy, a book that can both explain the emergence of Trump and potentially charts a new course for the field."

Christopher Achen and Larry Bartels are the authors of Democracy for Realists: Why Elections Do Not Produce Responsive Government (Princeton University Press 2016). Christopher H. Achen is the Roger Williams Straus Professor of Social Sciences and professor of politics at Princeton University, and a CSDP faculty associate. Larry M. Bartels holds the May Werthan Shayne Chair of Public Policy and Social Science at Vanderbilt University, and was the founding director of CSDP.
