CSDP and Politics Host SSRC Anxieties of Democracy Conference

Nov. 1, 2016

Over the course of two days, prominent scholars who study democratic institutions met to diagnose the current anxious state of our institutions and prescribe policy treatments. The Social Science Research Council's Anxieties of Democracy Working Group on Institutions discussed compelling and timely issues including public policy and political dysfunction, the effects of polarization on the bureaucracy, on congress, and on the constitution, government responses to minority protests, lobbying and business influences, appropriations, campaign finance, and our (broken?) political parties.
